3i’s digital media expert joins Wellington Partners
Wellington Partners, a pan-European venture capital firm, has appointed of the former Yahoo! manager and 3i sector partner Daniel Waterhouse. He will join Wellington Partner’s London office as a full-time venture partner, focusing on the digital media and online sector. He will be involved in evaluating investment opportunities across Europe, and will also provide strategic and operational support to existing portfolio companies building or expanding their international operations.
General partner Frank Böhnke said, “Daniel brings enormous sector expertise to our firm. There are very few people in Europe who combine operational and investment experience like Daniel.”
Daniel Waterhouse adds, “Wellington Partners has built a fantastic venture capital business over the past 11 years. It is a great opportunity for me to support their international activities out of London. At the same time I will be able to work with some of the best entrepreneurs in Europe.”
Before joining the Wellington team, Daniel was a sector partner at 3i. He worked on all venture capital and buy-out deals in the digital media arena across Europe and North America, such as next generation online media company Demand Media, the world’s largest photo blogging site Fotolog and travel site Fastbooking. From 1999 to 2005, he was at Yahoo! in London where he had a senior corporate development role covering strategy and M&A and was involved deeply in the acquisitions of Kelkoo and Zed.
Wellington Partners has €800 million under management and invests in companies that have potential in information technology, media convergence, cleantech and life sciences.
