Motivational and educational
A reader’s comment on The Chilli’s retelling of the key elements of a speech by Steve Jobs
Yes. Steve Jobs’ speech is motivational and educational – I also find it inspirational! It is pinned to my wall and read frequently. Great stuff!

Objective and not condescending dragon
A reader’s comment on The Chilli’s profile of Richard Farleigh
This is an insightful and interesting background on Richard, who I have seen on the Dragon's Den program on BBC2. He is the one dragon who impresses me most because despite his background and the wealth he has amassed, he is objective and not condescending to would-be entrepreneurs and dreamers. He is an example to follow indeed.

Patent, publish or perish? An academic’s dilemma
As an engineering academic, you are likely to face the potentially thorny issue of publishing, or patenting, your commercially viable new invention. A granted patent will enhance your ‘esteem’ factor in the up and coming Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), but a high quality paper could also count significantly as one of your four best papers presented for the RAE. SFLG
Dear Editor,
I refer to your recent headlines about the SFLG, the government and the banks.
As a new business, my business colleague and I are now suffering dearly as a result of the governments changes, in Nov/Dec 2005, to the SFLG, irrespective of the ‘Graham review’ acknowledging that the banks have a poor attitude towards the SFLG. Read more....
SFLG: putting the case to a truly independent ombudsman
Dear Editor,
I thank you so much for posting my letter of frustration and concerns with the SFLG and the banking process.
From now on I will be glued to your site because we, my business colleague and I, have found it extremely difficult to get any form of support on these matters. Between our own bank and the DTI, neither of the two bodies has even offered to sit down with us to offer support, help and guidance. Read more....
SFLG sympathy: bank managers have no appetite or knowledge of young business
Sir,
I sympathise with Mr Ivor Sutton in his condemnation of the SFLG.
My company has experienced almost identical issues compounded by the refusal of bank management to meet and understand our business and plans. We managed to secure contracts with five blue chip companies for the provision of services worth in the region of £500,000 and yet the bank refused to entertain SFLG further borrowing to fund operational activities because they believed that further borrowing was not allowed once a loan had been agreed. On the favourites list of every UK entrepreneur
I have just discovered your site and had to write to pass on my congratulations.
I was supposed to be home now helping with the kids but got engrossed with Uncle Thakur and his relatives. How true and dare I say it, close to home.
Your market report on chip & PIN told it as it is. Running a company in the payments industry, I have often considered myself on a limb whilst expressing similar views.
Fantastic and I look forward to delving deeper into your extremely well put together site. It should be on the favourites list of every UK Entrepreneur.
Well done.
